Explaining / Arguments
What is a TransID?
A TransID stands for Trans identity. I would like to remind that both the terms gender and identity are made up social terms & labels that do not actually exist. Anyway; A TransID is like being Transgender (Will how and why explain later in this Carrd), a Transgender person wishes to be a different gender/sex, a TransID person wishes to change something apart of their identity.TransIDs aren't like being transgender though!
Are they? Whats different? How is wanting to change something like your age, race, identity and similar not like wanting to change your gender? Back when transphobes were everywhere, being transgender was seen just as weird as you probably think of TransIDs. There was no way to change your gender; and it was seen as a mental illness. It's different because you cant change your age/race/whatever like you can change your gender/sex.
True. But what about the fact that's how people viewed transgender people when there was no surgery? If there was a way to change your race/age/etc would you see it as a normal thing? Because chances are if there was you would. And fun fact, surgery to change your race does exist. It's just not as socially accepted and in some cases even seen as "racist."
Resource / ExampleIt is also worth noting: Most trace/rcta/transracial people aren't white people who want to be black/asian. I've met alot of these people myself (that aren't bait accounts skull emoji) and most of them are actually white europeans wanting to be from another country.
Finishing the transrace discourse here, but I would like to say you can support transIDs without supporting transrace people. There are no rules or limits to it.Wanting to have a disability or be [insert thing] is fetishising / glorifying it!
It's not. This is a common misconception, but, you see the thing is that TransID people are fully aware of negative things surrounding [insert desired identity change] but knowingly choose to use the label anyway. Knowing sometimes you want has bad consequences and still wanting it isn't glorifying. It would be glorifying if someone took a [insert thing] and only showcased the good things about it, and made it look better then it is. Which a majority of TransID people don't do. Sure they may be a few bad examples, but a few people aren't the highlight of a community. I assure that the people in the TransID community do more research then you think, most TransID people are just underground. Also, those bait accounts on tiktok aren't actually TransID.Wanting a mental illness for example, or wanting more trauma (people who use the labels transtrauma or transabled) is a trauma response in itself. No one mentally healthy would want a mental illness knowing how bad it is, and no one without trauma would want more of it. As someone who has been in the TransID community I can tell you that almost everyone who uses terms like wanting insert mental illness; they are once again fully aware of the consequences and still want it. This is called Atypical dysphoria, and some parts of it are even medically recognised as a mental illness (BIID for example.) There are people who want things that would only bring them harm. For example I've seen people want to be fully blind, and that's not something you can even attempt to "glorify."Also worth mentioning that I (the person who made this carrd) is mentally disabled from birth, and there are other people in the community as well who are. I do not see a real issue with people wanting something that weighs me down. It makes me feel like the struggle I have had for so many years is not something "weird" or "gross". I understand if you feel different, but I wanted to state that. As well, like said above I've been in alot of TransID servers and clicking on almost every single profile will show you that the person in question is already disabled in some way.Again, no one truly mentally healthy would want something like a disability. I am not saying this to be mocking, instead I think people who have atypical dysphoria or extreme desires for something that harms them should be helped. If you think otherwise I am going to assume you are ableist, or at the very least don't think mentally ill people deserve the care they do.Okay, but what about [insert identity]
One of the things I see people use as a counter argument is the fact that [insert trans identity] is bad. First off, I would like to remind that something like TransIDs are a collective thing, there are no rules to making a term. I could sit here and make the most offensive and vile term possible, and it would still count as a TransID. Secondly, terms like "transmurderer" and similar are not as bad as they sound.By now you may not understand why someone would still use these, and the answer to why someone would use any TransID, even this one includes: atypical dysphoria, intrusive thoughts that ended up forming into actual desires, source/kin memories, not feeling like your trauma was bad enough, wanting to take control of past traumatic experiences and so on.People often uses TransIDs so they can identify with their desires, so they dont actually have to do it. And those who do only do it with consent. (Example: Transharmfuls / Transabusers only "abuse" / "harm" (put in quotations because I wouldn't consider it actual harm if it's with consent) willing people, such as Transharmed people who desire to be harmed / abused with consent.)It does not matter how bad a term sounds, because the term of trans[thing] means the intention/desire for [thing].Another example, what if someone uses the term transSH? Sure, self harm is bad, but what if someone identifies as using it so that they can feel valid in their urge/desire to cut, without having to actually do it? Wouldn't you agree this is a better alternative then actually cutting? Or what if someone has gone through something that doesn't have a label, but is akin to a already existing label? Don't they deserve to feel valid too?I still don't like TransIDs.
Ok. I can't stop you. At the very least you were open minded enough to read to this point. Remember that TransIDs are a minority, and by that I mean I don't think more then 100 people actively use TransIDs. So feel free to move on either way.
